WX Ignite is our paid 3-4 week insight programme for university students (or those aged 18-21) who have the ability and desire for a career in the PR industry, but who may not have the networks, means or experience to get there.
What's the opportunity?
WX Ignite is our paid insight programme that runs across the year for young people between the ages of 18 to 21 (or currently at university), to give them their first experience of the PR industry. It is designed specifically for young people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds who might not otherwise be able to access work experience opportunities within the industry.
It’s a great opportunity for quality, paid work experience during your university holidays or as an insight into the industry for recent school-leavers. You will be provided with:
A comprehensive induction into the PR industry
A WX buddy, a dedicated line manager, and catch-ups with the Head of WX
A training allowance equivalent to the London Living Wage
The chance to work with some of the UK’s most exciting brands
Opportunity for a place on our WX Accelerate programme in 2022 (Only applicable to those graduating in 2022)
Who can apply?
Applicants must meet the following social background criteria:
Attended a UK non-selective state school (e.g. comprehensive school) for the majority of your education between ages 11-16 AND
Be the first generation in your family in to attend university in the UK OR
Have been personally eligible for Free School Meals during your time in secondary education (household income of less than £16,190)

We’re not asking for any prior experience of the PR industry, we’re here to offer you that first break you need!
We’re looking for applicants that can demonstrate the following:
An interest in finding out more about the PR industry
A passion for brands, media, culture and social content
Excellent written communication skills
Excellent people skills
An interest in media and current affairs – you will enjoy scouring through the papers each week
